Cambodia Snapshots: Ready for Wedding Sotmon

Cambodia Snapshots, Cambodian Culture / Monday, April 1st, 2013

Cambodian weddings are really elaborate and colorful. It usually takes place for at least two days and one of the most important ceremonies is the sotmon, which often happens on the first day where several monks arrive to bless the couple.

The shot above is of the set up before a wedding sotmon. Pretty bold and colorful, right? Khmer weddings usually feature a profusion of color, and they are not shy about using strong shades of gold and silver.  I’ve also noticed that betel and nut is used here as decor.
