When you say handmade Belgian chocolates, you won’t immediately think of Cambodia as the place to find it. In fact, I sometimes get irked when friends and relatives who haven’t been here ask me what is to find here when they know Cambodia is still so behind. But let me tell you, Phnom Penh might not be a cosmopolitan destination, you’d be surprised at what you can find here. It’s doing a really good job at catching up with its neighbor.
In fact, oftentimes, I’m surprised to find some really good places and deals here. Most likely because there are lots of expats here and a whole lot of them open small businesses. So if you are craving for something, you’re most likely going find something here too.
Anyhow, back to chocolates. This is one of my favorite go-to places when I’m in a mood for chocolate indulgence. And that happens quite often. I’m raving about the The Chocolate Shop. They have branches in St. 240 and St. 63.
What’s to love? Well.. Finely crafted Belgian chocolates with very Khmer twist! And I swear I can’t get enough of the chocolate with Kampot pepper! Another favorite is their mango infused choco as well as the one stuffed with Mondulkiri honey. They also have classics so there really is something for everyone.
They make great gifts. Seriously. My husband knows where to go when I show signs of being mad! Ha! But yeah, they make wonderful gifts and make specially nice going home gifts, something sweet with a very Cambodian flavor.
