Hotels: Spring Valley Resort in Kep
One of the things I find really great about Kep Cambodia is the presence of many unique boutique resorts with lots of greenery, quiet and relaxing ambiance and lots of space. Yes, I crave space. Hence my preference for this quaint little seaside town. Sure, Sihanoukville has more choices when it comes to swimming areas, food and accommodation but they tend to be so close together and really crowded.
So yeah, when I badly need a breather, we head over to Kep. One of our favorite accommodations there is Spring Valley Resort. This place is just gorgeous and so lush. I’m totally enamored with it, perhaps because it reminds me so much of our home in the Philippines. My parents have a huge garden like the one at the resort.
Whenever we stay in Spring Valley, we book online via Agoda. Transaction is always smooth and check in always a breeze. Another huge plus for us when it comes to this little resort, is the service. Prompt, friendly but unobtrusive. We also booked a Rabbit Island trip with their front desk and it went all smooth.
Rooms: We always choose the Pagoda room, for some reason our daughter loves it. Must be the view or the stairs, so we just tend to ignore the weirdly placed post in the middle of the room. Ha!
Pictured below is one of the rooms. It’s spacious enough, clean. One con is the water pressure in the bathroom, it was a little too slow for my liking. The walkway around the tower was also a bit narrow, but it was still manageable. Another con is the spotty WIFI in the rooms. I know were supposed to be on vacation etc etc, but yeah, we do need to check emails. We liked how the ‘towers’ are placed apart from other rooms and surrounded by greens so it lends a lot of quiet and privacy.
Food at the resort is also good. In fact, my husband and I quite enjoyed the cocktails. The restaurant also has a great rustic ambiance. Breakfast served was not extensive but well cooked and we specially loved the homemade breads.
Location: Great, near the roundabout, easy walking distance from the small shops and Kep Beach. Crab Market is around 10 mins walk away, but better take a tuktuk or drive there if you have little ones in tow.
Pool: Gorgeous! Our daughter would happily swim there till she turns prune-like! I kid you not. She loves the pool, its a hardship to get her out of it.
Price: Room rates are around $40+/night price range.
Overall, Spring Valley is a great resort to stay in Kep. It’s not perfect but has a lovely, friendly atmosphere, rooms with stunning views, beautiful pool, and attentive staff. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this one if you’re spending sometime in Kep.
