Living in Phnom Penh: Getting into Groove..

So, I’m back. Again.

After my previous post, I went off again. I was the designated ‘tour guide’ for my mom and aunt on their Vietnam trip. And I just got back last Wednesday…home to a huge pile of laundry, house chores, blogging tasks, design work.

And now I’m just resurfacing. I felt like I was drowning with things to do, that I shut out all things online and computer related. I had to do mommy stuff first. And to add to my stress levels, my Khmer niece got married last Saturday-Sunday.

And those of you who are here in Cambodia would know how elaborate, stressful and tiring those Khmer weddings are. Of course, I had to stress about what to wear. I was wondering if after those huge amounts of food I ate during Christmas, would I still fit my Khmer traditional clothes? I just had to squeeze myself in them, since I didn’t have time to have one tailored. Lol.

I would have preferred to just go to sleep, or perhaps go shopping  than wear heels and crazy amounts of makeup for the wedding, but I do love my Khmer family and don’t want to let them down. So I resigned myself to being made over. With lots of makeup, hairspray and false eyelashes.

I did survive. Hahaha. And I must confess to enjoying it too. I know it’s weird, totally different from wedding experiences we used to have, but still it was an Experience. I consider myself lucky. Not everyone living here in Cambodia gets to experience that, a truly Khmer celebration.  Anyway, I’ll be blogging more about that wedding soon.

Right now, I’m concentrating on updating all the rest of my blogs, weeding out spam and trying to read all emails I missed.
