Mother Home Boutique Hotel Siem Reap
The number of hotels in Siem Reap is just mind boggling. At least for me. But its hardly surprising as its the main tourist hub here in Cambodia. Whenever we go there for short visits or to bring around some guests, we often find ourselves booking hotels around Old Market or in Wat Bo area.
A few months ago though, we had to be in Siem Reap for a week or so with the kids and we decided to look for a place that is not right smack in the city center and preferably with a pool. We also wanted a reasonably priced hotel with a spacious triple or family room. After much search, I ended up booking Mother Home Boutique Hotel.
It’s located in Taphul Village a few hundred meters from National Highway 6. A pretty quiet location, tucked in a small alley. It’s a good 15-20 minutes walk away from Night Market but it suited our needs at that time. Rate for triple room was $45 including breakfast. Check their website: www.motherhomeboutique.com for current rates. They allow booking direct without deposit or credit card. They also provide airport pickup.
The place is set in a lush, green space so it was a nice change from hotels in city center without any greens. The rooms were large and airy. Clean and comfortable. The staff were nice, the owner was specially nice and accommodating. When we were there, there weren’t a lot of guests but we did enjoy the peace and quiet. The pool was nice, albeit small, but good enough for us to cool down.
One downside though was the breakfast. Since there were few guests around, we had to go over to their sister hotel, Mother Home Inn, which was a few blocks away, probably about 10 mins walk. I guess this only happens when there aren’t much guests. The food served was okay – both Western and Asian fares, nothing exceptional but good enough to fill us up. There also weren’t much dining options around the hotel so we had to go to city centre for lunch and dinner.
All in all, this was a satisfactory hotel specially if you want to have a quiet place away from too much crowd. The pool was a plus and the rate was also reasonable. If you’re bringing your own transpo or you are okay with taking tuktuk rides to the town center, then this hotel might be a good option.
